The Phase Out - Part 16

Updated: Mar 16

Phasing out

In part 14, I touched on the tables and the timing and so forth. As time went on I found even more that the Ore side wasn't going to continue. And even though i held on for dear life, i realized that if I were to keep going as I wanted, I couldn't wait for things anymore. It was taking months to get a set of legs and I found it easier just to order them for small unique tables I was making.

I mentioned it numerous times that i probably should just start purchasing what I needed on the metal side. And anyone who is a maker, knows, that if you can make it, you are NOT going to buy it. So I just waited. Until one day, I said screw it and I ordered a set of legs for a Monstera table I wanted to build. Without saying a word.

And I guess, once it was realized that he didn't have to do it, he humbly complied.

Not long after that I started mentioning "the phase out" but very subtly. As time went I heard over and over "you guys" from my clients.... there was no "you guys"... it was just me. It IS just me.

One day I finally explained to him that he no longer had anything to do with the business. It was all me and that I was taking his name off the business card.

Without argument, he agreed.

It's just me.
