Why Bigfoot?

I often have people ask me "Why Bigfoot?" or "Why Sasquatch?" What is it about this big hairy fella that put him front and center in the S&O world??

Welp, a short story long, I honestly don’t even really know how it all started, but I do remember how it grew.

For no reason I can remember, I made a Christmas ornament that had a small cut out of Bigfoot. The ornament said "believe in yourself even if no one else does". I had redesigned a commonly found silhouette into a Bigfoot with his hand up and with various hand signs. 🤟🤘✌️. But the specific Bigfoot that was a fall off piece from an ornament had the peace sign. I went back and forth on which hand I liked most but the peace sign made the most sense in my heart. For me, Bigfoot symbolizes the peace of the forest, the need to be solitary, quiet, mysterious and simple. Myself, feeling the need for all those things. The peace sign and Bigfoot represented my emotions. My need for letting go of the world around me and what always was and then finding a new peace and a new place for myself. In the quiet and simple realm that I was developing and working through major life changes with my career and my health.

There is a blog post about that fall off Bigfoot and furthermore, how the traveling Bigfoot came about. It’ll tell ya the story of his developments and morphs and shifts. You can read that here! https://www.silvaandore.com/post/the-traveling-bigfoot

But it was the traveling Bigfoot that turned the big guy himself into the face of S&O. I have my logo. And I have Bigfoot. And between the two they’ve become my brand. With the traveling Bigfoot making his way around the world, he became this this form of marketing that I always thought was genius. I mean, how fun would it be to find him, post him on social media and leave him somewhere else to find his way around the world. I really hoped to see him go viral. But he was never tagged and talked about and photographed as much I had hoped. He didn’t surface from the far corners of the earth or even the local bars like i had hoped. But because he was so seen on my social media and in my marketing, and in my products he just became my brand. And now I often have people I know message me or text me and show me photos of Bigfoot statues or figures they’ve found on their travels. They may not be my traveling Bigfoot, but the one thing I do know, is that when people see that big hairy fella, they think of me. They think of Silva & Ore.
