For those of you who love the pet silhouettes, I just wanted to make a post about how to take a pic of your pet and the details to watch for. I am going to list it in steps it so hopefully it makes it an easy step by step process with tips and photos to help you too.
A) Front facing photos do not create the best silhouettes in dogs but can work great in cats. Pets who are all ears can really make great head on facing silhouettes. But it all depends on that look you want. You decide this.
B) Make sure that the back ground is an off color from your pet. If you pet is dark, use a lighter background. If your pet is multi colored, try to use a color in between. White background with a white dog won't work well.
C) The MOST IMPORTANT THING is to hold your camera down almost to the ground when you take the photo. This will create a side view rather than an angle view.
D) Have someone stand in front of your pet with a treat or toy to keep their attention and standing still in the position you want.
E) Now it's time to take that pic!
See these photos for examples and comparisons and more tips.

Key note to look for above.... Visually draw a line along your dogs paws. You want them to be as close to in line with one another as you can. This photo is off by a little but its within range to make a great silhouette.
See!!

Pointing your camera downward will not create a profile/side view but an angled view that doesn't quite create the right silhouette look.
This angle makes your pet look almost more of a blob than a silhouette.

Joe is way too close to Remi to actually take a complete photo, but this photo just shows a good level of the camera. And also, how cute is she? Such a gooooood puppy!!!
Big THANKS to Joe and Remi for being my perfect little models and helpers!!! They did so good and we were able to snap these photos in minutes!! Great job you two! You are my star performers!!
If you have any questions at all on how to take your photos, feel free to reach out. If you have any more tips or tricks to share, please comment on this post!!!
